Welcome to PearsallMedia, featuring artwork by Doug Pearsall
Griot Guardian
Thanks for visiting my site.
As I continue to grow and evolve my work expresses multiple influences, artistic, cultural and philosophical. Currently my preferred means of expression is mixed media, working with textiles and fiber art-incorporating fabric with beads, buttons, shells and other materials, fusing them into objects that make statements that allow me to embrace both my American and African heritage.
Currently my primary medium of choice is assemblage; I’m fascinated with the idea of fusing my materials into objects where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and transcends the superficial. The various components congeal into an artifact that has an intently lively visual presence. I see my sculptural process as “sketching with needle & thread.”
The work depicted above, “ibada ya jogoo na mwezi wa damu,” is a photocollage generated after my visit to Lamu, Kenya, East Africa
The idea is to share imagery I’ve conjured up along my artistic pathway. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
